Chorley-based VIT-BOMB Feel Good is excited to launch its new Bubblegum, Candyfloss and Cola flavoured dried Apple pieces in handy grab-bags, with the equivalent of one apple in each bag.

The NHS recommends 30g of dried fruit as part of your 5 a day. These 33g bags contain one serving of Apple and count as one of your daily quota. VIT-BOMB Feel Good apples are picked straight from the orchard, dried to bring out their sweetness and then naturally flavoured. They are high in fibre, plant based, vegan and gluten-free.

They are enriched with 80mg of Vitamin C (100 per cent of your daily Nutrient Reference Value), as well as having all the existing benefits of natural dried apple.

Providing many of the nutrients of their juicier counterparts; dried apples are an excellent source of antioxidants protecting cells from damage by free radicals, providing immune-boosting vitamins and minerals (such as calcium and iron) and dietary fibre, which helps to maintain a healthy digestive system.

Unique, unusual and explosive flavours

Recent figures show that only 18 per cent of children aged 5 to 15 eat 5 portions of fruit and veg per day. The enticing Bubblegum, Candyfloss and Cola natural flavours will help parents encourage their children to include more fruit into their diet but are also ideal for adults whilst on the go, at their office desk or travelling.

A serving of dried Apple provides 2.7g (nearly 20 per cent) of recommended daily dietary fibre. A diet high in fibre can help to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers. Containing insoluble fibre to promote a healthy digestive system and soluble fibre to maintain fullness for longer, control blood sugar levels and lower LDL “bad” cholesterol.

Cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure could all be prevented by eating a diet rich in fruit and veg. The NHS have long recommended 5 portions a day. However, it’s recently been reported that we should now aim for 7-10. This can be difficult for most of us but especially for fussy children and busy adults who struggle to reach the 5 portions benchmark.

Confectionery is in his blood

VIT-BOMB was founded by Gareth Winnard of Winnard's Ltd. He has 10 years’ experience prior to this, manufacturing sugar confectionery and supplying the major multiple retailers. He’s the 5th generation in his family to own and run a confectionery business, dating back to 1898.

His first brand VIT-BOMB is aimed at the growing healthier alternative snack market. The concept behind the name is derived from the Latin “VIT”, where it has the meaning "life and living". The name “BOMB” represents the explosion of unusual, unique but delicious flavours.

Gareth said: “In recent years’ we’ve seen a huge increase in people, particularly older children and young adults, seeing the value in making healthier choices. Our flavoured Apple pieces are perfect to replace traditional gummy/ flumpy sweets.

“Our Apples are picked straight from the orchard and dried until the perfect point that allows some moisture to remain and offer a sweet, fruity and fresh taste. Our handy sized grab-bags enable you to enjoy this moreish and nutritious snack on the go and curb those sweet cravings in one!

“We’ve designed our brand and packaging to be bright, colourful and eye-catching to help us stand out on the shelves. We’ve also added a QR code to the front of the packaging to give consumers the chance to learn more about the product.

“We wanted to offer the equivalent of one Apple in every bag; as they say an Apple a day keeps the doctor away!"
