Training 2000 collaborates with groundbreaking Edinburgh engineers

An Edinburgh engineering firm has called on Training 2000's Advanced Manufacturing and Automation Centre to help develop groundbreaking new air compressor technology.

Vert Rotors, manufacturer of the world’s smallest low-vibration compressors, sought out the ability to deliver a large-scale industrial version of its patented efficient and high-pressure conical screw compressor.

Through the collaboration, Vert was able to work on large scale high-precision 5-axis CNC milling machines, which are larger than they previously had access to.

Until now, Vert Rotors have specialised in micro-compressors, having developed a totally new design of air compressor that was the first real innovation in the industry in over 40 years.

Olly Dmitriev, CEO of Vert Rotors, said: “We are delivering technology that can support businesses to work smarter and more efficiently as part of the fourth industrial revolution. VERT.500 has potential for use in hospitals and other industries that rely on clean air, and will save businesses a lot of money.

Dmitriev added: “Involving Training 2000's AMAC and their extensive manufacturing capabilities in the development of the compressor has been key in enabling us to increase its scale. They are training the smart manufacturers of the future, and we are developing the components of future innovations, this high-level collaboration worked exceptionally well for both parties.” Mark Aspinall, advanced engineering technician at the AMAC, said: "There were several logistical issues to address in scaling up such an innovative system. Our experienced team worked in partnership with Vert Rotors to ensure all the qualities of their smaller compressors were successfully captured in the VERT.500.”
