Tom comes home to family property business

A young estate agent has taken up a position in his family’s business after gaining property experience on the other side of the world.

Pendle Hill Properties has welcomed back Tom Turner as their sales negotiator and valuer. Since he last worked within the Read-based estate agency, Tom has held roles as a Property Finder in Australia, and an investment consultant in Manchester selling off-plan city centre properties.

Set up by Tom’s father Andrew Turner in 2008, Pendle Hill Properties provides a specialist residential property sales and rentals service across the Ribble Valley, Pendle, Hyndburn and Burnley.

The business is now receiving the benefit of Tom’s experience of different aspects of the property market and seeing how things are done in more urban areas – as well as on the other side of the world!

Managing Director Andrew Turner said: “After completing his training with Pendle Hill Properties, Tom took a sabbatical to gain experience, firstly working within the Australian real estate industry and subsequently gaining valuable sales negotiation skills selling off-plan property whilst working in Manchester city centre.

“Now that he’s back Tom’s focus will be on continuing our ethos of accurate valuations, as well as having a dedicated role in the encouragement of new or unsold competitor property sellers to use Pendle Hill Properties’ services.”

19 year old Tom has had a role at Pendle Hill Properties since the age of 13. As a teen, he would help staff the office on weekends and school holidays. Upon leaving school in 2013, Tom served a two year apprenticeship at Pendle Hill Properties, gaining an NVQ in Business Administration.

Tom Turner said: “The experience I’ve gained while working in other areas of the property industry is proving so useful here as we aim to grow Pendle Hill Properties. “In Australia standards are so much higher in the residential property market, in how properties are presented and advertised. While Pendle Hill Properties’ standards are already significantly higher than our competitors, I plan to use these experiences to move our business forward. Working in a city centre property business helped me to sharpen my sales negotiation skills and that brings real benefits to Pendle Hill Properties’ customers as we aim to raise our standards even higher.”
