Recruitment businesses gets ‘quizzical’ for local youth charity, raising £4,000

Accrington based Cummins Mellor Recruitment hosted the first ever ‘Quiz Quest’ for Blackburn Youth Zone, a state of the art youth club facility located in the heart of Blackburn.

Over 100 enthusiastic individuals, representing businesses throughout Lancashire including; Graham and Brown, PM&M, Napthens, Forbes Solicitors and Pierce Chartered Accountants gathered together at the Blackburn Rugby Club to battle it out for the accolade of being crowned ‘Lancashire’s Brainiest Business’.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised £4000 which will all go towards supporting the “Get a Job” programme facilitated by the team at Blackburn Youth Zone. This programme is aimed at supporting young people aged 16 – 24 years, gain the right skills for employment.

Alongside the overwhelming support of businesses entering teams, has been the generosity of both companies and individuals alike in donating an array of over 20 fantastic raffle prizes which included; vouchers for Michelin Star Restaurant Northcote, Afternoon Tea at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester and an overnight stay at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-Le-Moors.

After 10 rounds of questions covering varying topics, the end of the night saw the title of BYZ Quiz Quest Champions 2016 go to Graham and Brown. They were presented with medals and a winner’s cake made by members of Blackburn Youth Zone.

Director of Commercial Development at The Cummins Mellor Group, Helen Jackson commented; “Cummins Mellor have been proud to support the amazing work of Blackburn Youth Zone for a number of years and hosting this inaugural event to raise not only vital funding, but also the profile of the Youth Zone and the work they carry out within the local business community, has been a privilege.

Special mention must be made to Blackburn Rugby Club for their hospitality, together with Premier Office Supplies, Bevlan Office Furniture, Media Village and Abbey Catering who all helped make this event a huge success. We’re looking forward to next year, making it even bigger and better.” Hannah Allen, Chief Executive of the Blackburn Youth zone said “On behalf of the team at Blackburn Youth Zone, I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved for your generosity and support in making this fundraising event a success. Without you, we would not be able to reach out to and help as many young people in our community as we do. Thank you for your ongoing support."
