Third Enterprise Zone set to be created in Lancashire
Plans are being put in place for a £200m private investment to develop a new Enterprise Zone in Lancashire that will create 1,500 new jobs.
The 331-acre Hillhouse Enterprise Zone is a joint scheme between Thornton-Cleveleys-based NPL Estates, Wyre Borough Council and Blackpool and Fylde Coast Economic Development Company. The proposed site at Hillhouse International Business Park in Thornton-Cleveleys will be Lancashire’s third Enterprise Zone, following the 178-acre site in Samlesbury and 185-acre site in Warton. The project comes off the back of Chancellor George Osborne's call for fresh bids for the development of Enterprise Zones in smaller towns and rural areas. The deadline for submissions is 18 September 2015, with any new Enterprise Zones that receive the green light expected to be up and running by April 2016.
