Brilliant Burnley's The Landmark has reported astonishing growth over the last 4 months. The announcement highlights the new ways people are working due to covid 19 restrictions.

The Landmark is a thriving community of businesses based in the iconic former home of Burnley Grammar School on School Lane in Burnley town centre.

The increase in demand for their business facilities is believed to be caused by those struggling to work from home, and by a raft of new companies starting up in the wake of October's business start-up event held at The Landmark. This purpose of the business start-up event was to introduce aspiring entrepreneurs to all the help available for starting a business. The event was very well attended and many of the people there have gone on to join The Landmark Business Club.

Since the health crisis took hold, organisations have closed their offices and asked staff to work from home. For many people this situation is challenging. Customers cite distractions from young children at home, and loneliness of working in isolation as important factors in making the move to The Landmark's collaborative work environment.

Covid related redundancies in the town have also provided the push for many to start their own businesses. The Landmark is an ideal location for start-ups and entrepreneurs looking to formalise and solidify their operations. Last month's business start-up event saw local entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners visit the building where they were able to find out about the wealth of guidance on offer to those taking steps towards running their own business. October's event is thought to be one of the seeds that led to this high level of growth.

Andrew Leeming, a senior figure in Lancashire County Council and Programme Manager of Lancashire's growth hub, Boost Lancashire, was a key speaker at the business start-up event. He commented:

"This level of growth is fantastic. There are plenty of people out there with great business ideas and we've got organisations like The Landmark in Burnley (and across the county) that make things easier, giving people a push in the right direction."

The Landmark offers all the benefits of a totally modern workspace with ultrafast internet, state of the art audio visual facilities for video conferencing, boardrooms and meeting rooms. One of the main appeals is the networking and collaborative working opportunities it affords.

Director of The Landmark, Mark Crabtree OBE, said: "These incredible growth figures are testament to the resilience of the town's business community. There's huge demand and we're offering something unique here, all the modern facilities you'd expect from a city centre office but wrapped up in a grade 2 listed building."

The Landmark is host to a range of businesses from the SMEs right through to some of the region's most important organisations like Barclay's Eagle Labs, and Forbes Solicitors. Membership of The Landmark Business Club starts from just £20 a month and spaces are filling up fast.
