Multinational supermarket chain Tesco has completed a deal to take premises at 82 Fishergate, Preston, and building works have already commenced on site to open a new Tesco store.
Building works to amalgamate units one, two and three to create 4,166 sq ft over three floors, with 2,204 sq ft ground floor retail space, are expected to take eight weeks to complete.Internal fit-out of the convenience store will take a further three weeks from construction handover with the store planned to open to the public at the end of September.
Tesco has signed a 15-year lease from landlords Vivienne Properties with Robert Pinkus & Co acting jointly with Ockleston Bailey on behalf of the landlord.The Preston city centre store will provide a convenient one stop shop for essential groceries for city centre shoppers and workers. Joe Assalone, partner at Robert Pinkus & Co, said: "There has been a requirement for a convenience retailer at this end of Preston's busy high street for some time and Tesco will fulfil this need. The new store will revitalise the retail offering whilst providing an essential service to shoppers, commuters using Preston train station and city workers."
