Taylors, the Blackburn-based commercial law firm, has raised over £19,000 in aid of its chosen local charity, Blackburn Youth Zone, by arranging ‘An Evening of Glamour and Glitz’.
The team at the local law firm hosted the event at Stanley House in Mellor which was attended by more than 180 guests comprising Taylors’ clients, contacts and fellow supporters of Blackburn Youth Zone.Elaine Hurn, managing partner at Taylors and host on the evening, said: “From the very start, we were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of our clients, contacts and fellow supporters of Blackburn Youth Zone. Nearly all the tables for the event were snapped up in the first few weeks of going on sale and we received so many generous donations for the auction and raffle.
“Our charity auction was generously supported by Cummins Mellor Recruitment, who donated an amazing prize of a 5 star dinner party at home with food kindly provided by Booths Supermarkets; and Daniel Thwaites plc, who donated any real ale lover’s dream – the opportunity to brew and name your own beer!“Our sincere thanks go to everyone involved in the event whose support and generosity made it possible for us to raise such a fantastic amount for this great local cause.
“The amount of money the event raised just goes to show the degree to which local business people are willing to get behind the cause and to work together to help BYZ continue its inspiring work to build hope, aspiration and belief in the local youth community."Andrew Graham, chairman of BYZ, added: “When the team at Taylors chose to hold a charity ball in aid of Youth Zone, we knew they would pull off something special, but the spectacular evening and phenomenal amount of money raised far exceeded our expectations. The whole team here is thrilled with the boost to our finances that will help us remain a positive force in so many young lives. Our sincere thanks go to everyone at Taylors for their deep support and a truly unforgettable evening." As well as the monies from table sales and the charity auction & raffle on the night, the total raised was bolstered by two significant donations; five of the team at Barclays’ Blackburn branch each donated £1,000 towards the fundraising and Taylors’ longstanding client, Clarke & Clarke, kindly donated all the damages from a recent case that the firm’s Intellectual Property team successfully settled on the company’s behalf.
