Great Harwood is set for an unforgettable festive celebration as one of the UK’s leading Taylor Swift performers returns to the Great Harwood Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 13th December.
Back by huge popular demand after last year’s standout show, she will once again entertain crowds with all of Taylor Swift’s biggest hits. This year’s appearance even includes a brand-new “dance off,” encouraging visitors to arrive early and get involved in the fun.
The performance will be part of a full day of free entertainment on the main stage, culminating in a special headline set from global rock star Michelle Hendriks and her incredible full band, Blondied.
Michelle, lead singer of the UK’s leading tribute to Debbie Harry and Blondie, will be performing in her hometown of Great Harwood for the very first time, adding an emotional highlight to the day.
The Extravaganza, sponsored by Hyndburn Borough Council and BRSK, will also feature outstanding entertainment from Accrington Xmas Factor star Eliza Castle, the electrifying sister duo Kulturess, who recently thrilled crowds at the #AmazingAccrington Christmas Lights Switch On, alongside Christmas dancers, Halcyon Performing Arts, Burnley College Musical Theatre, the Helen Green Academy of Dance and a magical Frozen sing-a-long.
The celebrations will begin at 12pm with a colourful parade led by the world-famous Accrington Pipe Band and Great Harwood Rovers, marching from Towngate to the main stage on Queen Street outside Mercer Hall.
Visitors can enjoy a full programme of attractions throughout the day, including a funfair, brass band, a free Santa’s Grotto and free selection box giveaway at 3pm while stocks lost. Wreath-making (main marquee) and Christmas card (library) workshops, which are now fully booked, will add to the festivities, and families can meet Frozen favourites Anna and Elsa for free at 2:15pm in Santa’s Grotto.
Main stage host Gavin Young will keep spirits high with festive favourites, while food, drink and craft stalls will line Queen Street. Visitors are also encouraged to explore and support Great Harwood’s fantastic local bars, restaurants, cafés and independent shops on the high street.
Cllr Kimberley Whitehead, deputy leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have the Taylor Swift performance back in Great Harwood. She was incredibly popular last year, and the public have been asking for her return ever since.
"Having her on the bill again is the perfect addition to an already packed and exciting line-up, and we can’t wait for everyone to enjoy what promises to be a spectacular day.”
