Swansway Group helps keep all of the fun of the circus alive

Swansway Group, which owns Blackburn and Preston Audi has continued to support Circus Starr, a not for profit organisation, that provides all the fun of the circus to those who wouldn’t usually be able to attend, despite that fact that there have been no circus performances for all these weeks and months.

Swansway Group has announced their latest donation to Circus Starr. Despite the Coronavirus pandemic causing so many disruptions, closures and uncertainty throughout 2020, the group still managed to make their sizable quarterly donations to Circus Starr. The group have adapted to become an online retailer for Motability customers so scheme applicants can continue to stay mobile with their Motability vehicles. The family-owned business has today announced the final donation figure for 2020, making the total year donation £13,640.

Since Swansway Group began their support of Circus Starr 5 years ago, they have donated over £70k through the sale of Motability vehicles. For every vehicle sold on the Motability Scheme to a Motability customer, the group would usually donate £20, which enables a child and their carer to go to a Circus Starr show. During 2020, Circus Starr had to cancel all of their shows due to the Coronavirus pandemic. So the donations made by Swansway Group in 2020, have instead been used to directly support Circus Starr.

Swansway Group director, David Smyth said: “2020 was a difficult year for everyone, but we can’t imagine how difficult it has been for some parents and children. Being able to continue our quarterly support has been a priority for us and we’re so pleased to have been able to help.

“Even though the show hasn’t been able to operate for coming up to 12 months now, our support has allowed Circus Starr to stay running, and be able to return to work when it is safe to do so”.

Sarah Hall, communications and engagement manager at Circus Starr commented: "Once again we have been amazed by the generous donation we have received from Swansway Group! In these difficult times we feel very lucky to be working with such a caring company, who are still offering their support so that we can continue our much needed work. We are so grateful for this contribution, thank you Swansway Group!”

The Motability Scheme is open to anyone in receipt of higher rate mobility allowance (such as the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment or the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance). Recipients can exchange all or part of their allowance to lease a Motability car to take advnatge of our  SUV Motability Offers, saloon, hatchback or MPV across a wide range of vehicle makes.
