Lancashire branding and design agency Studio LWD has delivered a renaming project for Winchester Science Centre.
The new Wonderseekers brand aims to support the charity’s mission to remove social, cultural and intellectual barriers and engage children in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), particularly those with a disability or impairment.
The new brand encompasses the charity’s full range of activities, including the Winchester Science Centre itself, science in schools programme, science in communities programme and its campaign work for improved equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in science.
Wonderseekers CEO Ben Ward said: “By sparking and harnessing children’s curiosity in science and removing barriers to engagement, we believe we can give children the confidence, ambition and empowerment to improve their own lives, and life on Earth.
“Using our expertise in communicating STEM to children and families, we do this through creating experiences that are fun, inclusive, immersive, interactive and accessible. We reach children in innovative ways through our Science Centre, in schools, in communities, online and through collaborations with universities and industry partners.
“Our new name aims to encapsulate all these values as represented across our full range of activities.”
Studio LWD creative director Laura Weldon said: “We were especially pleased to work on this project because we were drawn to its clear focus on a mission to inspire children, and in turn improve life for everyone.
“An ethical purpose, so strongly underpinned by a positive, practical approach, offering ambitious but achievable results for humanity and the planet, inspired us. We love to help clients establish brands to achieve their big thinking, big dreaming and ideological goals so that they can speak and connect to people from all walks of life.
“It’s great when we can help companies and charities communicate in a way that not only sends their message out, but also brings their audience in – something that engages and includes – and this project incorporated all of that.”
Founded in 2012 by creative director Laura Weldon, Studio LWD is a ten-strong multi-service brand-building agency with experience working with some of the world’s most iconic brands including Virgin, Nike, Tesco, Aldi and the British Council.
