Solicitor secures national accreditation

An experienced solicitor at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall has successfully become a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel.

Mark Taylor, 50 and situated at the firm’s Bury office, attained the accreditation following a rigorous process of assessment and experience tests in the field of child law.

Mark, who has over 20 years experience in the field and has worked at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall since 1989, is now placed on a list of just a handful of lawyers in the region who can act on behalf of children.

The placement on the nationally-recognised panel also demonstrates the law firm’s commitment to providing expert advice on a range of issues such as; working out arrangements for children during a divorce, child custody issues and the legal rights of children.

It is particularly relevant in care cases where social services are involved when children are removed from their parents, and Mark will now be able to represent those children to give them a voice before the court.

Five solicitors at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall, which has offices across Lancashire and Greater Manchester, now possess the accreditation.

Margaret Mahon, partner at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall commented: “The accreditation is only awarded to solicitors who demonstrate the personal skills and expert knowledge required for representing children and Mark has proven ability in helping young children to understand their legal rights.

“Our recent merger gave Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall an opportunity to utilise our vast history in offering expert legal services. We aim to expand our family law department to give more people access to such quality legal advice.”

Mark Taylor added: "Becoming a member of the panel is a great achievement." “It not only helps to give our clients assurance that the firm meets the highest standards of client care but nationally recognised standards helps to differentiate the firm in a competitive market place.”
