CPUK granted £2m college contract
West Lancashire-based Construction Partnership UK has won the £1.95m building contract at the highly-acclaimed Loreto College in Hulme, south Manchester.The new building will provide the college, which is top of the league tables for A Level grades in Manchester, with a stylish new entrance and reception at its Chichester Road South campus.
Sited in the existing college grounds, the brick-clad block will also house classrooms and new amenities areas for students and staff.CPUK expects to start on site later this month and the new building is due for completion in July next year.
The contract is the latest in a string of appointments in recent months which has seen CPUK’s order book for the next 12 months grow to more than £25m.That work is in several sectors of industry with the economic outlook in the North West looking increasingly brighter.
As well as education, CPUK is now working on projects in the retail, commercial, health and house-building.The Skelmersdale-based firm is also expanding out of its traditional North West of England heartland with work in Scotland, Cumbria, the North East of England and the South East either underway or in the pipeline.
Steve Burke, managing director of CPUK, said: “The contract with Loreto College will see us creating a modern, stylish education block that will greatly enhance the existing facilities that exist on campus.“The focus will be to carry out this work with the minimum of disruption to students and staff studying and working in the existing buildings.
“The new amenities the building will create for the college will be open for students arriving to study at the start of the academic year in 2014.”CPUK’s order book is now at its strongest for more than four years and it is continuing to grow.
