Simon Jersey to dress Team GB at 2018 Winter Olympics

Accrington uniform and workwear company Simon Jersey has been chosen to supply Team GB at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games.

Following its support of the team for last year’s summer Olympic Games, Simon Jersey will supply the winter athletes with contemporary formalwear from its suiting range.

The company is the only formalwear supplier to be picked by Team GB for multiple Olympic Games. Plans are now underway for selection of the suits Team GB will receive from Simon Jersey’s extensive range.

They will wear their suits to events during and after the PyeongChang 2018. The first of these is set to be a reception when they arrive in South Korea, just before the Games begin.

To celebrate the announcement Simon Jersey worked with indoor real snow slope, snozone, the UK training base for many of next year’s skiing and snowboarding hopefuls, to see how its range performed.

Freestyle coach, Tom Wilburn, took to the slope to test the flexibility, performance and durability of the Simon Jersey suiting range in an extreme display of snowboard acrobatics. The suit he tested include features such as a Teflon coating for water resistance, ensuring he stayed dry on the slope, and a responsive waistband to allow him to achieve his freestyle moves.

James Saunders, Simon Jersey managing director, said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be a part of Team GB’s journey as they aim to continue their winning streak. Looking and feeling good is all part of creating a successful mindset and we’re thrilled to continue as the team’s formalwear supplier going into the Games.

“Dressing athletes who are all different shapes and sizes is a challenge, but one that we manage every day on behalf of all of our clients. Going to snozone was an ideal opportunity to test the durability of our garments for wear in cold conditions and it was fantastic to see how the suit performed.

“We’re already in the process of refining what they’ll be wearing this time next year ahead of what we hope will be a very successful PyeongChang 2018.”

Bill Sweeney, British Olympic Association CEO, said: “The commitment of partners like Simon Jersey to continue this exciting journey with us is integral to our plans. The imagery of the athletes decked out in their Team GB suits at the announcement to confirm Andy Murray as flag bearer and the now famous ‘flashing shoes’, provided two iconic shots which opened and closed an incredible Rio 2016 for Team GB.

“The quality of the product Simon Jersey delivers is vital to our aims of ensuring the best possible environment for the athletes both on and off the field of play.” Last year, the suiting provided to Team GB was worn at events such as the ambassador’s reception ahead of Rio 2016 plus a visit to Buckingham Palace to celebrate the team’s success.
