Sensational Seafood Week celebrations

Seafood was top of the menu for diners across Lancashire, as they travelled to enjoy sensational seafood inspired events hosted by an award-winning food company.

The Seafood Pub Company celebrated Seafood Week from the 7th – 14th October, for the second consecutive year, with a series of events including a Ready, Steady, Cook evening at the Oyster & Otter, Wine vs Cyder finale at the Farmers Arms, an Ocean Roast at all venues and the highlight of the week, a Champagne Jacquart Dinner at the Derby Arms.

Jemma McAnespie, marketing manager of the group said: “Seafood Week was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our amazing food, drink and accommodation offering to guests across the UK.

“It gave diners the opportunity to try different venues within the group and best of all, have lots of fun whilst experiencing great food. With accommodation at six of our sites, guests could really make a night of it!”

Tying in with National Seafood Week, the campaign seeks to educate people on the benefits of incorporating seafood into the diet and to encourage them to eat more seafood, more often.

“I truly believe that the North West coast is home to some of the finest quality fish produce in the UK and Seafood Week is the ideal way to celebrate this,” said Antony Shirley, the group’s executive chef.

“The menus and dishes we put together meant there was something for everyone; from a unique World Seafood Platter Special to an Ocean Roast for all the family to enjoy at the weekend.”

Alongside creating stunning menus and dishes, Antony also took a trip to a local primary school to launch the Little Oysters Cookery Club and give an interactive demonstration to the children about seafood.

Jemma added: “We’d like to thank all our customers, old and new, for showing their support during Seafood Week. “All the events were really well received and the wheels are already in motion to make next year bigger and better!”
