Recapping Pierce's year of support for Lancashire Mind

Following a vote from Pierce staff, the charity of choice for 2022 was Lancashire Mind, and what a year it was!

The fundraising started all the way back in April with a fabulous Ladies' Evening. Taking place at the Whitehall Hotel in Darwen, we had 15 amazing stalls selling everything from clothing by Ivy Label, wax melts from SoyAmazinScentz to beautiful ceramics and gifts by Kargi Bay. Not to forget the wonderful head and shoulder massages with YOLO Wellbeing.

The evening was a fantastic success and we would like to thank everyone who contributed and came along.

May saw Phil Johnson, Payroll Manager, and Shauna Williamson, Online Services Advisor, complete the Manchester Half Marathon raising over £500!

In July a team of 11 plus Boris and Humphrey (our four-legged friends) walked across Morecambe Bay and what started out as a gloomy day thankfully brightened up with the weather improving as the walk commenced. A brilliant day taking in the beautiful scenes around the bay.

The next fundraising and hair-raising challenge was a 15,000 ft skydive with the awesome Black Knights at Cockerham. 8 took to the skies and following a 60-second freefall, took in the spectacular surrounding views as they floated back to the ground. The team raised a phenomenal £6275 and all said they would do another!

The annual Pierce Race Night came next, an ever-growing fun evening with businesses opting to sponsor a race, people naming horses, and general bets being placed. More than once we sold out on betting tickets and the total raised beat previous years with a total of £2,003!

Not finishing our fundraising there, over the course of 7 weeks, budding bakers baked all sorts of treats such as samosas, brownies, scones, and mince pies all quickly selling out some definitely being of British Bake Off quality and deserving of a Paul Hollywood handshake.

And finally, in early December, three donned their best elf outfit and ran the 5km Mental Elf Race around Witton Park with Pierce sponsoring the medals. This is a fantastic fun event, with children taking part and some running with their dogs. A great way to finish off our partnership with Lancashire Mind.

In total along with your support and donations, we managed to raise an astounding £11,861.51!!

We are incredibly grateful to all who continuously support our charity events and sponsor our members of staff in their challenges.
