An event held at Burnley Mechanics to celebrate the four month Corporate Challenge saw businesses competed to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.

The challenge has seen 26 companies participate and raised a grand total of £85,570.

The innovative concept of the Corporate Challenge saw the Hospice give companies £50 and asked them to turn it into as much as they could during a four-month period (1st June-30th September).

Petty Estate Agents won 3 awards - the Innovation Award, Best Male Performance and Corporate Challenge Champion 2016, as well as being highly commended in the LOL award.

The business won an Innovation Award for their ducks campaign, which saw their employees selling Rubber Ducks to people, who then submitted photos of the well-travelled bath-time toys, whose adventures took in trips across the globe – taking in Italy, Greece and even Australia and regularly appearing on social media!

The Best Male Participant award went to Petty’s Residential Director Ian Bythell, who amongst other things, led a team of walkers dressed as super-heroes on the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

The business also won a Corporate Challenge Champion Award for their over-all commitment to the campaign and they were highly commended in the LOL award for their ducks campaign.

Petty residential director, Ian Bythell said: “It was a great effort by so many people. There were some outstanding amounts raised, but the awards recognised everybody’s contribution – not just those who raised the most money, but also the company’s that took on board the ethos and won engagement from wider audience.

“We’re really proud to represent our patch as the area’s only chosen Relocation Agent Local Experts and to retain that status we take our Corporate and Social Responsibility very seriously.

“So it’s great to have raised much needed funds for Pendleside Hospice and taken part in such a brilliant initiative. To have so many businesses involved has raised much needed funds, but also engaged lots of people locally and raised awareness of the vitally important role of the Hospice and the fact that they touch so many lives in a really positive way.

“Most of us have at some point experienced friends or family with life-limiting illnesses and it’s both humbling and inspiring to see the amazing support for people that is provided by our wonderful hospice.”

Christina Cope, from Pendleside Hospice, added: “We’re really grateful to have had a number of prominent local businesses like Petty’s taking part in the challenge and getting so much commitment from all their members of staff. “As well as raising much needed funds for Pendleside Hospice, the Corporate Challenge benefits the businesses taking part though providing team-building opportunities, inter-departmental working, publicity and a contribution to the company’s Corporate and Social Responsibility efforts. They also know that they’ve made a huge contribution to the continued work the hospice does in helping people living with a life-limiting illnesses.”
