Oswaldtwistle Mills has a long tradition of welcoming coach parties and giving them a great Lancashire experience, with tours available going into the Ribble Valley, Pendle and beyond.

In June a group of Chinese visitors will be having the same wonderful experience - with the tour being spoken in Cantonese!

Caledonian Travel, who are regular visitors to the Mills, have recently booked in a coach full of over 50 tourists from China.

They will be able to enjoy shopping, browsing and lovely food and drink at Oswaldtwistle Mills, plus a guided tour of the beautiful scenery of the Ribble Valley and Pendle - in Cantonese, thanks to a local translator arranged by Oswaldtwistle Mills!

Local business owner Mrs San kindly arranged for translator Amy to join the tour and translate from English into Cantonese for the guests. She can also speak Mandarin and two other Chinese dialects.

Nick Pitman, managing director of Oswaldtwistle Mills, said: "Each year we book in hundreds of coaches from all over the country, and do get overseas visitors. This is the first time we've been asked to provide a tour in Cantonese, and we were happy to arrange!

"We will provide them with a warm Lancashire welcome and fabulous hospitality as always, and we hope they return to China and tell people how lovely our corner of East Lancashire is!

"Our coach bookings are 50 per cent up on last year already, and we hope to book even more in as we go through the year!"

Oswaldtwistle Mills Coach Tourism Team, consisting of Barbara Banks, Lisa Carruthers and Claire O'Grady, with former chairman Peter Hargreaves working in an advisory capacity, are breaking all records this year.

To date they have booked over 600 coaches to come to the Mills this year, from all over the country - from Cornwall to Aberdeen.

Besides offering mill shopping, lunch and a guided tour, Oswaldtwistle Mills can also arrange a translator into Mandarin, Cantonese and other languages, plus overnight stay at the local Dunkenhalgh Hotel just 5 minutes away. Simply call the team on 01254 871025 for more details.
