Nuclear and defence Skills Bootcamps available at Preston College

New Skills Bootcamps are available to enhance your employment opportunities in project management in either nuclear or defence.

The Nuclear & Defence Skills Bootcamps part of the government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life in Project Management will be delivered between October’23 to December’23 at Preston College and you can register your interest now.

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer. 

Skills Bootcamps

Nuclear Sector – only 15 places available
Defence Sector – only 15 places available

In a dynamic partnership, the NWAA (North West Aerospace Alliance) and Preston College are combining forces and uniting their strengths to present a remarkable chance for aspiring learners to explore, learn, and gain invaluable insights into the Nuclear and Defence sectors.

Primary focus is Level 3 Project Management a skills gap and a skill set which is high in demand for both the nuclear and defence industries and a very sought-after capability. This programme harnesses industry leaders to provide you with a delivered solution in understanding the essential elements of working in these sectors with Nuclear and Defence leading employer’s input into the course delivery and content. Plus, support with preparing CVs, job application forms, and mock interviews. 

With job/apprenticeship interviews or career progression available to those on the programme at the end of completion, you will work through a portfolio in readiness to fulfil a future career or upskill your current work force with insights and opportunity.

Reach out and find out more about the accelerated pathway to project management with an industry focused approached, meaning you will complete a programme of study that has you prepared for industry after only 65 hours over a three-month period, delivered across two evenings, 6 hours a week.

Who’s It For

  • If you are 19 years or over
  • If you are living in Lancashire (including Blackburn & Darwen & Blackpool)
  • If you are an existing Lancashire business wanting to upskill your current workforce
  • If you are already in employment and are wanting to enhance your current employment opportunities
  • If you have been unemployed for less than a year and are wanting to diversify and enhance current job opportunities

Your Commitment

6 Hours Per Week over 2 evenings (a mixture of online and in person learning)
65 hours over a 3-month period
