North Lancs Training Group (NLTG) has reduced its carbon emissions by a tremendous 75 per cent following the completion of a project which has seen solar panels installed at their three buildings in Accrington.

The Accrington-based training provider has also reduced its energy consumption by 75 per cent following the 16-month project undertaken by The Energy Guys, also based in Accrington, and NLTG will benefit ongoing from savings on their energy bills.

A smart energy solutions provider, The Energy Guys provide services to help businesses and homeowners save on their energy bills.

The project carried out on NLTG’s three Accrington-based sites, the Old Bakery, Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) and head office Bradshawgate House, has seen approximately 550 solar panels installed totalling 193kw.

Gareth Lindsay, managing director of NLTG, said: “It is extremely rewarding to see the completion of this fantastic project, and one which is going to see us do our bit to help and protect the environment.

“From the very first energy efficiency review with The Energy Guys it was clear that work could be done to make our buildings more energy efficient, and we are very proud to have achieved carbon reductions of 75 per cent, as well as reducing our energy consumption by 75 per cent.”

Joel Tetlow, managing director of The Energy Guys, commented: “We have a longstanding relationship with North Lancs Training Group, having taken on Apprentices through NLTG and having moved into their former premises on Manchester Road, where we are still based today.

“It was very clear from the outset that Gareth and the team wanted to improve their energy efficiency and we have thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and the different challenges involved. We would like to say a huge thank you to NLTG for entrusting us with this project.”

NLTG have more than 50 years of experience delivering Apprenticeships, providing opportunities for both 16-18 year olds and adults in a wide variety of occupations and industries including Catering and Hospitality, Business Administration, Customer Service, Digital Marketing, Furniture Occupations, Digital IT Support and Retail.

NLTG also offers pre-Apprenticeship programmes tailored to suit the needs of young people aged 16-18 who are not yet ready, or able to directly enter employment or an Apprenticeship.
