Accrington-based training provider North Lancs Training Group CIC (NLTG) have been named as one of the main sponsors for the 2025 #AmazingAccrington Food Festival.
Taking place on Broadway on Saturday 7th June in Accrington Town Centre from 10am-4pm, the free-to-attend event will feature international, regional and local food stalls, a live cooking demonstration area compered by Netflix star Molly Robbins, special guest appearances, a D-Day Commemoration, a display of military vehicles and much more.
One of the special guests attending the food festival is Michelin Star chef, author and host of Saturday Kitchen Glynn Purnell, who wowed the crowds at the 2024 Accrington Food & Drink Festival with his culinary expertise and his delightful dish of brill cooked in spiced coconut milk, with toffee carrots, passion fruit and cumin.
NLTG have been heavily involved in the event for many years, and as one of the main sponsors for this year’s event they will showcase their culinary skills with a cooking demonstration of their own.
In 2024 NLTG launched their ‘Farm to Fork’ initiative, as they look to educate their students and Apprentices about the world of food and where it originates.
The campaign has seen their students and tutors visit various establishments in the food industry including a farm producing pasture raised eggs, while further visits will be made over the next few months ahead of the Accrington Food Festival.
Hospitality students and those with a keen interest in the industry will then join the NLTG team at the food festival, where plans are currently being made for local produce to be sold on the day, giving the students the perfect opportunity to showcase their newfound knowledge and experiences.
Gareth Lindsay, managing director of NLTG, said: “The food festival is a fantastic community event in the town and one which we are keen to support every year.
“This year we are taking our involvement up a level and not only will be taking part in a cooking demonstration, but we will be bringing our ‘Farm to Fork’ initiative to the festival.
“One of our objectives is to inspire people to go on our courses and this event provides the perfect opportunity to showcase the wonderful hospitality Apprenticeships that we have available across the region.”
Murray Dawson, chair of #AmazingAccrington, said: “It is great to get the support of local businesses like NLTG for our events. We are working on some really exciting plans for the festival, and we can’t wait to share them with you all over the coming months.”
