New social media talent for DigitalGuys

DigitalGuys, the Preston-based design and marketing agency, is taking on a graduate for a newly-created position as part of the company’s ongoing growth strategy.

Stephen Slavin, a first degree Public Relations graduate from Chorley, has joined the team at DigitalGuys as a social media executive. He will be responsible for managing online social media marketing campaigns for the company’s growing list of clients.

Careers in social media management are part of a new generation of positions that did not exist a few years ago, and have been developed due to the rising popularity of social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+.

Stephen said: “I’m really thankful for the opportunity and excited to get started. I’ve voluntarily worked on social media campaigns for charities and businesses in the past and am thrilled to be starting a career in the field I love.”

Stephen was first approached by DigitalGuys on Twitter after posting that he was looking for work experience. Following a two-week placement working on some of the company’s social media accounts, DigitalGuys is pleased to offer him a paid position.

Tom R Wardrop, managing director at DigitalGuys, said: “Social media networks have been growing exponentially for years now, and brands are now aware that maintaining an online presence is no longer optional, but essential. “Stephen will be a great asset to DigitalGuys, we look forward to having a fresh set of eyes, new ways of thinking and the very latest industry best practices within the marketing and PR team.”
