New era for popular Laneshawbridge pub

Family, friends, customers and local businesses were thrilled to be one of the first to sample the new menu and surroundings at a popular Laneshawbridge pub.

The Alma Inn, now part of the award-winning Seafood Pub Company, held an official launch evening to celebrate its new menu and ownership.

Guests were given the chance to enjoy tasters from the menu, including devilled crab, mushroom and brown shrimp croquettes and chicken satay skewers with peanut and lime dip, plus complimentary Prosecco.

Damien Brierley, general manager at the Alma Inn said: “We’ve made some fantastic additions to the menu, and have already had some really positive feedback.

“The launch evening was a great chance to showcase our new offering to customers, inviting them to share our celebrations, and to toast the future at the Alma Inn.”

The menu consists of dishes such as the Alma fish pie, which includes haddock and prawns baked in parsley sauce with mash potato and Lancashire cheese crumb, hake bourguignonne, which is roast hake with bacon and brioche crumb, dauphinoise potatoes, red wine shallots and chestnut mushrooms, plus the classic Alma favourite, the trio of beef.

“We wanted to adapt the menu, freshening things up a little and bringing in some Seafood Pub Company classics, as well as keeping lots of Alma favourites, which we know customers love,” said Antony Shirley, the group’s executive chef.

The Seafood Pub Company has ten sites in the group including the Barley Mow in Pendle, the Assheton Arms in Downham and the newly opened Forest in Fence.

The group has won a number of regional, national and industry awards for its exceptional food and drink offering, and high levels of customer service. Damien added: “The Alma is a beautiful destination, nestled on the border between Lancashire and Yorkshire; it’s the perfect place to begin the Seafood Pub Company’s expansion into Yorkshire in the near future.”
