New Call Telecom, whose call centre employs more than 200 staff in Nelson, has placed 53rd in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 list for 2015.The only Lancashire-based company on the Tech Track list, New Call is also the highest placed residential broadband and telecoms services company, confirming its place as the UK’s fastest-growing provider.
In 2010 New Call moved its call centre back from Mumbai, India to Nelson and established a joint venture with Burney College to establish the New Call Academy which offers apprenticeships to local young people. The scheme has now trained more than 30 young people and provides much-needed jobs in the area.Founded in 2010 by Burnley-born Nigel Eastwood, New Call is now a global technology company and operates one of the UK’s favourite residential broadband providers, Fuel Broadband.
The company has seen rapid growth in the UK, recently acquiring WaveCrest, a UK-based voice wholesaler that also provides branded voice services to brands such as Tesco. New Call is also expanding in India where last year it acquired Nimbuzz, a mobile technology brand with more than 210m users across the globe, and Ozone Networks, Indian’s leading public W-Fi provider.Through these acquisitions, New Call is now the second largest VoIP platform in the Middle East and the third largest premium ad platform after Google and Facebook in South Asia.
This is the first time New Call has appeared on the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 list which ranks Britain's 100 private tech companies with the fastest-growing sales over the latest three years.New Call saw further success last week when New Call CEO Nigel Eastwood was named in the top 100 most influential telecoms thought leaders in the world by Onalytica, and New Call was named as one of the top 100 most influential telecoms brands. Nigel Eastwood, CEO of New Call Telecom, says: “We are delighted and very proud to be the only Lancashire company named in the Tech Track 100. It’s an incredible achievement. To be on this list as the top UK residential telecoms provider is testament to all our staff in Nelson and to the young apprentices we take on every year. I want to take this opportunity to publically thank everyone at New Call in Nelson, and at Burnley College, for their outstanding efforts. It’s our people that make New Call the highly successful company it is today.”
