Napthens appoints new head of learning and development

Napthens has strengthened its commitment to developing its people with the appointment of Vanessa Lester as head of learning and development.

Vanessa has joined the law firm with more than 25 years' experience across legal practice, legal education and professional training. She has held senior roles in private practice and most recently worked as a lecturer in law at Liverpool John Moores University, where she taught on the Legal Practice Course, Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) programme and undergraduate law courses.

A qualified solicitor, Vanessa has worked as a solicitor, department head, practice manager, consultant and lecturer throughout her career. She has led teams, managed legal departments and developed training programmes, with experience spanning civil litigation, personal injury, legal compliance, legal management and professional skills development. This breadth of experience gives her a strong understanding of the skills and support needed at every stage of a legal career.

In her new role, Vanessa will lead Napthens' learning and development strategy, working closely with colleagues across the business to support professional growth, strengthen technical excellence and help people build the skills needed to succeed in an evolving legal landscape.
