Lancashire Football Association is seeking to appoint a new chair of the board of directors to help lead the organisation into the future.

The search for the non-executive chair, which is a voluntary position, replacing Roger Haydock who steps down after seven years, is being led by Lancashire-based executive and management recruiters Walmsley Wilkinson.

Simon Gerrard, CEO of Lancs FA, said: “We are seeking a visionary leader who is values-driven and recognises the importance of our organisational culture, and can support our endeavours to increase football’s reach to more members of our society, whilst continuing to meet the needs of our current, varied stakeholders.

“With our organisational focus being on creating an inclusive game for everyone, and providing better outcomes community-wide, through football, we encourage greater health, wellbeing and social connections locally, and this pivotal role is the chance to meet the wider challenges of safeguarding and equality in our community and leave a lasting positive legacy. We’re delighted to be partnering with a local Lancashire-based business for this important role.”

Taryn Wilkinson, director of Walmsley Wilkinson, said: “We’re excited to be selected to manage this key recruitment project. It’s important that we identify an accomplished individual, with proven experience in governance and chairing a board, who has a passion for football and can be an ambassador for the work of the Lancashire Football Association in helping to deliver the vision of ‘A Game for Everyone’.

“We work as partners with our clients as part of their team and this kind of brief is a dream for us - in the heart of Lancashire with a challenge to recruit a truly extraordinary person who reflects the culture of the organisation and can support further innovation.”

Lancashire FA is the governing body for football in Lancashire, and the largest County Football Association in the country, leading the way in promoting and developing grassroots football.

Walmsley Wilkinson, which is owned by two female partners, Linda Walmsley and Taryn Wilkinson, offer professional solutions for executive and management recruitment needs. They support a variety of organisations, including large corporations, family-owned entities, private equity and the third sector to identify and secure the best leadership talent, across the UK and internationally.
