As part of its commitment to sustainability, Climarite Refrigeration has partnered with two leading local initiatives. SustainNET and LancsCAN have been launched by Edge Hill University in a bid to drive the climate change agenda, facilitate essential research and engage key stakeholders across the county to ensure a more sustainable future.

The cooling services industry is currently responsible for over 10 per cent of all carbon emissions. As global temperatures continue to rise so does the demand for refrigeration and air conditioning.

Aware of the escalating challenge and as a climate-control champion, sustainability is priority number one for Skelmersdale-based Climarite. Patrick Connolly, managing director at Climarite comments on the partnership: “the unavoidable truth is that we operate in an industry that currently relies upon high energy usage, which is costly to the environment. Advancements are being made to improve this all the time and there’s a lot we do as a company, but it requires a continual and collaborative effort and that’s why partnering with local initiatives like SustainNET and LancsCan is imperative.”

In 2021 Climarite launched its Energy Management Review (EMR) service in a bid to reduce clients energy consumption through advanced building control expertise specifically via refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Launched in 2020, SustainNET aims to connect individuals and groups that are passionate about sustainability and committed to taking action; through education, research, partnerships and engagement.

Following after in June 2023, Lancashire Climate Action Network (LancsCAN) was born as a result of the inaugural Lancashire Community Climate Action Forum. The main aim of LancsCAN is to mobilise the county’s community voice by bringing together various climate action fronts including: energy, biodiversity, wildlife, food, green and blue spaces, transport and mobility, housing and buildings, recycling and waste management.
