SME housebuilder marks major milestone with purchase of nearly 700 plots across flagship development.

Kingswood Homes has completed the purchase of phase 10 at Green Hills in Blackburn, marking the final land transaction at its flagship development nine years after the first purchase was completed in December 2016.

Over the nine-year journey, Kingswood Homes has purchased nearly 700 plots on the site, representing a massive achievement for an SME housebuilder and demonstrating the company's commitment to long-term placemaking.

Paul Jones, managing director of Kingswood Homes, said: "For an SME house builder, purchasing nearly 700 plots over nine years is a significant achievement. Green Hills has been challenging at times, navigating complex market conditions along the way, but what we have accomplished is remarkable.”

The Green Hills development represents a collaborative vision between a forward-thinking landowner committed to bringing forward a quality housing development; an award-winning design team dedicated to demonstrating that exceptional design can be delivered at scale; and the determination of the Kingswood team to prove that SME housebuilders can deliver quality and design excellence in the residential sector.

The development's success is evidenced by an impressive collection of industry awards including seven NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards, five NHBC Seal Awards, five North West Regional Developer Awards, three Design Awards and a Best Development Award.

Green Hills has also contributed to Kingswood’s five-star rating from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for four consecutive years, with an impressive 97 per cent customer satisfaction rating, one of the highest in the North West.

Today, Green Hills is home to more than 250 homeowners and features nine distinct areas of open space, equivalent to four football pitches.

The development has established itself as one of the region's most sought-after residential locations, with a strong community spirit demonstrated through regular seasonal events including bonfire night celebrations, Christmas light switch on events, Halloween spooky house competitions and Easter egg hunts.

The development showcases two distinctive collections of house styles, the contemporary Farmstead Collection, drawing inspiration from local farm buildings and featuring over £15,000 worth of energy-saving extras including solar PV panels and shower heat recovery systems, and the traditional Homestead Collection, influenced by Blackburn's Georgian architecture, which has achieved over 90 per cent sales on its first phase.

Innovation has been at the forefront of the development, with the introduction of the industry-leading Shape Your Home concept enabling homeowners to customise their layouts. Kingswood remains the only housebuilder to offer this flexibility to its customers.

Paul Jones added: “This development is a testament to strong collaborative partnerships.

"We especially acknowledge Homes England for providing essential financing and consistent support.

"Furthermore, we recognise the vital role of the landowners and promoter, whose belief in Kingswood and continued trust were instrumental to the success of the project to date.”

Green Hills continues to expand, partnering with Together Housing for its latest phase, bringing Shared Ownership and Affordable Rent opportunities to the development while maintaining Kingswood's high standards of quality and design.

Paul Jones said: "Green Hills is a success story in an industry that often delivers failure in the SME category.

"Everyone involved should be so very proud of what we have achieved." Kingswood Homes was advised by Walker Morris.
