When The Open winner sinks their winning putt at Muirfield, thoughts will immediately turn to next year’s event in Hoylake for one Lytham family business.

When the family estate agency was formed 60 years ago, renting multi-million pound houses out to the stars of golf, horse-racing and athletics was not in the plans, but that’s just what the current generation of the Lever family are doing.

“We’ve already let a number of properties on the Wirral ahead of next year’s Open at Royal Liverpool, explains JGL Sporting Links director, Clemmie Lever. “We’re working at Gleneagles for next year’s Ryder Cup and in the Glasgow area on accommodation for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.”

For the last 20 years, property company JGL has been pairing world class sportspeople and media companies with the homes to match at some of the biggest sporting events in the UK.

“Open golfers will often bring their families with them. So it’s not just a question of privacy for their own sakes – it’s privacy for their children too. That’s why all landlords are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Confidentiality is a huge part of what we do – and a core part of our reputation," says Clemmie. Alongside its appointment as R&A’s only official lettings supplier at the last three Opens at Royal Lytham, in 1996, 2001 and 2012, JGL also undertakes accommodation relocation services for major companies including a very strong middle east client list.
