Industry heavyweights join forces to launch SwitchMy.com

Two directors at one of the North West's leading digital marketing agencies have joined forces with a former Inenco energy expert to launch a new brand into the SME energy switching space, with plans to create 50 new jobs.

Headed up by former Inenco Group board director, Anthony Mayall, Preston-based SwitchMy.com is an online comparison and switching service designed to meet the growing needs of small to medium sized businesses looking to lower business overheads.

Switching suppliers is commonplace amongst domestic consumers but is an evolving concept in the B2B arena with switching reported as low as 15% amongst users. SwitchMy has acquired access to more than 20 UK business energy suppliers enabling it to save an average of over £3,000 for customers.

Launching with its core business of gas and electricity comparison, SwitchMy will also provide a number of other switching services for SMEs, including merchant services and its soon-to-launch telecommunications arm. These services typically utilise opaque billing systems, with the majority of SMEs paying more than they should.

Backed by Motionlab CEO Simon Iredale and managing director Steven Ormand, SwitchMy.com has a no cold calling policy and offers SMEs a true comparison of over 20 business energy suppliers in minutes. SwitchMy offers helpful and unbiased information through its website and via its customer service team, known as the ‘Switchologists’.

Motionlab has developed the launch campaign for the brand and will continue to provide full marketing support for the ongoing SwitchMy marketing strategy, which is centred around an ‘inbound’ approach.

Speaking about the launch of SwitchMy, Anthony Mayall said: “We are very excited to bring this fresh and vibrant brand to market during what is a crucial period for the UK energy sector.

“Thousands of businesses are needlessly wasting millions of pounds on gas and electricity every year by not shopping around for a cheaper supplier. It’s time for businesses to adopt the same approach to business utilities as they would do with home insurance or energy suppliers.”

“Whilst the recent Competition and Markets Authority review highlighted that energy suppliers are benefiting hugely from domestic consumers not switching, it’s the SME consumers that came off worst - paying the highest profit margins.

“SwitchMy.com offers SMEs a quick and transparent way of finding the lowest rates possible for their business gas and electricity. It’s early days, however, we are already saving our customers an average of over £3,000 per year.”

Motionlab CEO, Simon Iredale said: “All business owners are fed up of being called every day by telecoms, energy, insurance companies trying to sell us something we don't need. We live in a society of empowerment where the user educates themselves on benefits and makes informed choices. SwitchMy is an extremely open brand that will grow to be one of the biggest hubs for business savings in Europe.

“Our challenge was to develop a stand out brand within what can often be perceived as a very dry and serious sector and deliver a high impact digital disruption strategy that generates inbound enquiries and sales from business owners that want to save money. “This is an exciting project for Motionlab as it has touched every team member within the office - from our branding and design studio through to the website development department and our specialist marketing division including SEO, PPC, email, PR and content. We’re looking forward to playing a big role in the SwitchMy journey as it adds new services to its repertoire.”
