Imminent Brexit: Make sure your business is ready for 1 January 2021!

As a business, you might have recently received a letter from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) about Britain approaching the end of the transition period for Brexit. According to BEIS, this is a hard deadline and there will be no more extensions. Therefore, if any aspects of your operation has to do with the EU, it is important that you get ready as soon as possible, as per the advice below from BEIS:

If you export or import goods from the EU…“Check the new rules on importing and exporting goods between the EU and Great Britain from 1 January 2021. Diff erent rules will apply in Northern Ireland.”If you employ staff from the EU…“If you are planning to recruit from overseas from 1 January 2021, you will need to register as a licensed visa sponsor.”If you manufacture goods for the EU market…“Use GOV.UK to identify changes aff ecting manufactured goods, such as new marking requirements or approvals needed, to ensure your business is ready to sell them in the UK and EU.”If you are moving goods into, out of, or through Northern Ireland…Make sure you always stay up to date with the latest guidance.“At the end of the transition period, the Northern Ireland Protocol comes into force. There will be special provisions which only apply in Northern Ireland so if you move goods into, out of, or through Northern Ireland make sure you check the latest guidance at: gov.uk/northern-ireland-trade”
