ICON Sports Community Spirit

Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) is delighted to welcome north west-based ICON Sports UK Ltd as the latest business supporter of the award-winning community programme.

ICON Sports UK supplies custom sportswear, workwear, printing and embroidery services. They have already worked with Burnley FC’s official charity for two years and have now pledged to donate £1,000 as part of the Friends of Burnley FC in the Community scheme.

The Friends of scheme gives businesses an official partnership with BFCitC, offering the chance to engage with their community as well as look to acquire further business through networking, referrals and positive news stories.

Will Purser, director of ICON Sports UK Ltd, commented: “We have worked with Burnley FC for a while now, supplying them with print and embroidery for staff uniforms, applying sponsor logos to the women’s teams kit and supplying hoodies and t-shirts for various projects and fundraisers.

“We always strive to price competitively and given the charitable nature of the projects, we wanted to go one step further and develop an official partnership.

“We are delighted to be a part of the Friends of programme and look forward to supporting the East Lancashire community going forward, beyond everyday team and work wear.”

As well as contributing financially, ICON Sports UK Ltd are already delivering on the Corporate Social Responsibility element of the partnership by donating three large boxes of warm winter clothing to BFCitC’s Community Kitchen. These will be distributed to those in need over the winter period.

The Community Kitchen opened in August, comprising of a food bank, teaching kitchen, café and library. The facility in Burnley town centre supports local people with a variety of needs, including emergency food parcels, regular support for families and individuals via the foodbank and employment support.

The warm clothing including hats, coats, gilets and base layers, will be distributed free of charge to users of the Community Kitchen.

Ryan Bradley, business development executive at Burnley FC in the Community, added: “The Community Kitchen has been established through good will and via donations from various local and national companies. It is now thriving due to the continued support of businesses like Icon – as well as a hardworking group of volunteers.

“The donation to the Friends of scheme from Will and Greg at ICON Sports UK will help us to continue to drive forward the varying programmes we now deliver to over 27,000 individuals in our community.

“Partnership working is essential to our operations and we are grateful of all of the contributions from our suppliers and local businesses, who all help us have the impact we do.”
