How to measure website success

Key Website Metrics

A lot goes into building an online presence for your business. In this blog, we’re telling you how to measure website success.

What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing is any method of promoting your business online. This could be through a website, social media platform, SEO or paid advertising on search engines.

Each digital marketing service will provide different benefits, so it’s important to consider your business goals before you decide on a strategy. A great digital marketing agency will be able to help you with this. At Complete, we consider all client goals and make valuable suggestions to help you reach them.

Key website metrics

There are many metrics that you could use to measure the effectiveness of your digital strategy. Here are some key metrics.

Pages per session

This metric indicates how engaging your website is. Ideally, you’ll want users to find the web page they need quickly and remain on it. Visitors viewing too many pages per session may indicate a poor user experience.

The average amount of time spent on a page can also provide interesting insights. For example, users spending longer on a page may indicate that the content is helpful and engaging.

Unique visitors

Anyone visiting your website for the first time is labelled a unique visitor. Any visits after this are no longer unique. This metric allows you to measure the effectiveness of a strategy when bringing brand-new visitors to the website.

Website traffic

If you’re wondering where your digital strategy could be improved, website traffic is a good place to start. For example, if you receive few visitors from social media, perhaps you need to implement a new strategy that drives traffic to the website.

Engagement rates

Engagement rates were previously known as bounce rates on Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a great tool for assessing digital marketing. Your engagement rate measures the number of users who visit your website without clicking another page. This can sometimes be a result of a poor website design where elements do not load correctly.

It’s worth assessing all metrics to identify how your digital marketing could be improved. For digital marketing to be effective, it must be monitored closely.

Is it worth investing in digital marketing?

Digital marketing has advanced very quickly and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. People are now spending much more time online, meaning that investing in digital marketing is vital if you want to remain competitive in your industry.

Investing in your online presence means that you’ll build brand awareness and trust and have access to a wider customer base. We can support you with all aspects of digital marketing, don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team.
