Bellway has accelerated the fundraising campaign of the 1439 (Skelmersdale) Squadron, RAF Air Cadets, by donating £500 towards a much needed minibus.

The voluntary, youth organisation and registered charity, which gives young people in Skelmersdale and the surrounding areas the chance to develop skills and take part in life changing opportunities, is seeking the support of local businesses to help fund a Squadron 17-seat vehicle.

By purchasing a reliable minibus, the cadets would be able to fully participate in training courses, camps, sports competitions, as well as attend regional and national events such as adventurous training, gliding, flying and shooting, significantly enhancing their experience within the RAF Air Cadets.

From building resilience and confidence to learning more about leadership and teamwork, the minibus would directly benefit the young people within the locality for many years.

Neil Fletcher, pilot officer of the 1439 (Skelmersdale) Squadron, says: “Whilst the Royal Air Force provides sponsorship that covers the training opportunities for the cadets, the logistics and transportation costs are not funded, which is why a minibus is very much needed.

"We’re delighted with Bellway’s donation. They have sponsored the first seat on our new minibus, and we hope many other local businesses get on board too!”

Jenny Bell, sales director at Bellway, said: “With several developments across Lancashire, including Lathom Pastures in Skelmersdale, we jumped at the chance to help the cadets with their fundraising.

"Sponsoring a seat on the minibus is a fun way to support their campaign, and with the Squadron being a registered charity, we wish them well and look forward to seeing the minibus on the streets of Skelmersdale in the near future!”

Located in Lathom village, Lathom Pastures is a beautiful Lancashire development currently offering a selection of three bedroom semi-detached homes, as well as a range of three and four bedroom detached homes, with prices starting from £236,995.
