Harrison Drury helps concert firm clinch date with Tom Jones

Licensing experts at Lancashire law firm Harrison Drury have helped a renowned concert promotion company to expand one of its flagship summer music events.

The firm represented Fylde-based Cuffe and Taylor in its bid to add a fifth night of entertainment to the Greenwich Music Time (GMT) festival, held on the banks of the River Thames in the grounds of The Old Royal Naval College.

It means the festival, being held July 22-26, can now host an additional Sir Tom Jones headline slot, alongside other headliners Flamenco Musicians, Gipsy Kings, Kinks front man Ray Davies, and 10 times Grammy award winner George Benson.

Greenwich Music time stormed on to the festival scene in 2014 with performances from The Australian Pink Floyd show, Goldfrapp, Jools Holland and Russell Watson. The event welcomed 5,000 guests each night in a fully-seated outdoor theatre in the grounds of Sir Christopher Wren’s iconic twin-domed masterpiece.

Harrison Drury helped Cuffe and Taylor gain a variation to its existing licence, allowing it to put on the extra show after Tom Jones had sold out his original slot.

David Edwards, who leads Harrison Drury’s regulatory and licensing teams, said: “Last year’s Greenwich Music Time was a tremendous success. Securing an extra night of entertainment to accommodate a second performance from the legendary Tom Jones means this year’s event will be even more spectacular. We’re once again pleased to be able to make it possible for Cuffe and Taylor to host another high-quality series of concerts.” Founded in 2009, Cuffe and Taylor has fast become one of the UK's leading production, promotion and event management companies, attracting over half a million people to its events up and down the UK throughout 2014.
