Glendale is delighted to have achieved a further 15 Green Flag Awards for the parks they maintain in partnership with London Borough of Lewisham and to be ranked 2nd overall out of a total of 32 participating London Boroughs. Glendale, scoring 46.25 only missed out by 1.5 points from overall winner Lambeth in the latest round of national awards, but even this couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm and feeling of achievement across the entire Glendale estate.

The scoring was made up of 10 areas of operation with each area carefully considered and allocated an individual score. The scoring categories were public satisfaction, awards for quality, collaboration, supporting nature, community involvement, skills development, events, health, fitness and wellbeing, sustainability and strategic planning with Glendale scoring the maximum available points in 6 out of the 10 categories.  Glendale now has over 180 Green Flag Awards attributed to the excellent landscape maintenance work they deliver for our beautiful parks across the UK.

During these uncertain times, the parks have been crucial for people to get outdoors. This is especially true for people living in London, who may not have the luxury of a garden. The parks have provided a place for people to exercise and have been important in maintaining mental health and wellbeing during lockdown. Glendale have been working hard in Lewisham to keep parks in top condition for people to enjoy.
