Get to know one of the county’s leading employers

Leading regional employer VEKA UK has designed and built a brand new website, making it even easier to stay up to date with the latest news, views and exciting job opportunities from the Lancashire PVCu giant.

The site details some of the many rewards that come with working at VEKA UK - including flexi-time, discounted gym memberships, attendance rewards, health benefits, savings and loans, and more – and then makes it even easier to apply. Applications can now be submitted online, and partially completed drafts can be saved to return to later.

When it comes to local career opportunities, it doesn’t get much better than VEKA UK. Crowned ‘Manufacturing Business of the Year’ at the 2019 Red Rose Business awards and ‘Employer of the Year’ the year before, VEKA UK is proud to offer exceptional benefits and job security. The company is part of the global VEKA Group which celebrates 50 years in business this year and employs 5500 people worldwide.

VEKA UK MD Dave Jones explains: “The same family has continued to run the global VEKA Group since it was founded in 1969 and traditional family values govern much of our decision making and our approach to staff development.

“We’re passionate about finding the best talent and then bringing out the best in them. Being part of the largest manufacturer of extruded PVCu products in the world – we have the resources to really help our people shine. VEKA UK offers all manner of ongoing training and development opportunities, because we know that if our staff are happy, fulfilled and increasingly skilled, that’s good for the individual and good for the business.

“Visitors to the new site can hear from our people, describing in their own words, the training and further education opportunities they’ve had access to with VEKA UK, including fully funded MScs and more. Having begun my own career as an apprentice, the fantastic Apprenticeship Programme at VEKA UK is also something I believe is incredibly valuable."

“The global Group further boosts the security and stability of our operations here at the Burnley plant, which we’re very proud of. We’re also very proud of our many achievements right here in the UK! We continue to invest in our plant and technology (£5M last year alone) and we support a wealth of local causes, communities and charities. We’ve raised or donated more than £86,000 to registered charities over the last two years.

“VEKA UK helped open the Burnley Community Kitchen, and last year saw the team transform a dilapidated bus into an inspirational reading space for a local primary school, spending 750 volunteer hours on the project.”

The company is so passionate and committed to its Burnley roots and the surrounding area, that Dave Jones recently became an official ‘Lancashire Ambassador’ alongside the likes of Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff.

Dave adds: “The new website not only allows our trade customers and interested homeowners to find out more about our innovative window and door systems, it also gives a ‘behind the scenes’ insight into what goes on at the plant, our charity work, community partnerships and job opportunities.

“I hope people enjoy getting to know VEKA UK a little better at www.veka.co.uk”.
