Start-up businesses in Lancashire can benefit from a new legal service which aims to help fledgling entrepreneurs get their house in order and focus on growth.

HD Start-Up Assist is a range of packages tailored to the regulatory and compliance needs of different types of new and emerging enterprises.

Designed by Preston-based law firm Harrison Drury, HD Start-Up Assist aims to reduce costs and remove management distractions, enabling entrepreneurs to focus all their energies on growing their business.

Brett Cooper, associate solicitor at Harrison Drury, said: “We recognise the crucial role that new and emerging businesses will play in the economic recovery, and are committed to supporting the growth and development of new ventures and new technologies in order to see these businesses flourish.

“For any new start-up there can be a minefield of regulations that a business must comply with and this can be a very costly exercise. To take the pain out of this daunting task, we have prepared a number of options to suit various types of businesses that provide a limited company structure, tailor-made to their needs, as well as a range of advice and documents that their specific business requires.”

HD Start-Up Assist is available to all newly incorporated companies that have either been a limited company for less than 12 months, or can demonstrate that they began trading in the last year.

Options start with the Basic Package, which features limited company incorporation and standard articles of association, initial board minutes and issue of share certificates, and director’s letter of appointment. At the higher end of the range is the Employer Package which includes all the Basic Package features, plus terms and conditions for your business, staff handbook, and pro-forma staff employment contract.

There is also an option to insure against potential employment claims with Harrison Drury’s HR Compass service, which can be included in any Employer Package. Brett added: “Enterprise is in Lancashire’s DNA and it’s great to see so many people launching their own business. However, it’s a tough environment out there, without the added burden of red tape and compliance. Our new HD Start-Up Assist aims to give entrepreneurs a much-needed leg-up to achieve great things.”
