Family business invests £1m in expansion

Family-owned Swansway Motor Group, which operates Swansway Honda Bolton and Motor Match Bolton on Folds Road in the town, is expanding its Motor Match used car operation in Bolton.

Swansway director, David Smyth explained, “My family is Bolton born and bred, my dad, Michael, started what is now the RRG Group, in 1967 when he bought a garage which was really just a couple of wooden huts on Radcliffe Road in the town”.

“When we returned to Bolton in 2015, acquiring J Gordon & Sons Honda dealership, it was a real feeling of coming home for us. In 2017 we launched our used car operation, Motor Match, in the town and now we’re expanding our Motor Match site with a £1million investment”.

“The investment will create a further 3 jobs at the site which already employs a team of 32 people”, added David.

Swansway also operates Motor Match sites alongside its Honda dealerships in Rochdale and Stockport and will be opening a stand-alone Motor Match centre in Stafford later in the year.

David commented, “As a motor dealer group with a large number of premium franchises, we take many lovely pre-owned cars in as part exchanges, rather than send these to be auctioned or sell on to traders, Motor Match has allowed us to give local motorists the opportunity to purchase these excellent cars”.

“We only retail those cars that we believe offer our customers great value and expansion at our Bolton and Stockport sites will allow us to keep and retail more of these cars and pass on this great value to our customers, added David.
