EG On The Move has expanded further into France following the acquisition of a network of 37 IMO Car Wash locations. This follows the completion of a deal by the Blackburn headquartered business to take on 260 French petrol stations from EG Group earlier this year.
The deal is another major step for chief executive Zuber Issa who launched the business when he acquired the forecourt division of the EG Group in a £228m deal in 2024, stepping down as co-chief executive.
With eyes on building a 'retail powerhouse', Zuber's business now owns 285 petrol stations across the UK in addition to its recent European acquisitions.
Zuber said: “The car wash acquisition in France reflects our commitment to investing in high quality customer services that complements our existing mobility and convenience retail offer. Car wash provides us another investment opportunity to expand and grow in France.
"Globally, car wash facilities continue to play an important role for residential and business customers alike, providing convenient, professional vehicle cleaning destinations that help maintain vehicle appearance, value and support fleet management requirements.”
Although the car wash sites are operated by independent third party retail partners; the overall estate management, operational continuity and environmental considerations will remain important areas of focus as EG On The Move integrates the newly acquired network and evaluates future investment opportunities.
In close partnership with its retail partners, it is expected the France car wash sites will be rebranded over time.
In a statement announcing the deal, EG On The Move said it 'will assess opportunities to enhance sustainability measures across the acquired network and support the continued adoption of efficient car wash technologies where appropriate, while maintaining high operational standards'.
Selim Maraslioglu, director general for EG On The Move (France), said: "This IMO car wash network acquisition reflects a firm commitment by EG On The Move to invest in the French market. France remains a strategically important growth market, and we are pleased to be expanding our customer offer with a recognised vehicle car wash brand.
"For many French motorists, whether commuting daily, travelling for business or embarking on family journeys, convenient and reliable car wash facilities remain an important part of the roadside experience.
"We look forward to working closely with the existing IMO site operators and exploring future opportunities on our France network."
