Service Care Solutions is very proud to announce that we were presented with the Special Recognition Award for our participation in Derian House's £50 Corporate Challenge.

More than 30 businesses took part in the £50 Corporate Challenge, launched in February, which saw them given £50 and set the task of turning it into as much money as possible.  More than £30,000 was raised for the hospice, which offers respite and end-of-life care for more than 400 children and young people from across the North West. The challenge has seen chests waxed, heads shaved and mountains scaled.

Abi Williamson, corporate partnership manager at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “When we launched the £50 Corporate Challenge back in February we had no idea the lengths our fabulous business supporters would go to in order to raise money for our children. We have been absolutely blown away by their creativity, humour and sheer determination and it’s been wonderful to see such a variety of different ideas."

Derian House offers respite and end-of-life-care for more than 400 children and young people from across the North West. It costs more than £4 million every year to run services, and yet Derian House receives less than 10 per cent of its funding from statutory sources, having to rely on the generosity of its supporters for the rest.

Our efforts at Service Care Solutions raised £3,666.00, which placed us third overall. The whole office got stuck in and literally tucked in to our charity sweet shop, barbeque, bake sales and took part in dress down days. The Special Recognition Award we picked up was also for our continuing work with Derian House as one of our chosen charities. Despite working with Derian House over the years and hosting multiple fundraising efforts, our staff still enthusiastically got stuck into completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in under 12 hours and raised a large chunk of funds for the £50 Challenge pot.. Our MD, Richard Freye picked up the Special Recognition Award at the Awards Ceremony and said, "It is an honour for us to work so closely with this amazing charity; they do such worthwhile work and have a huge impact on so many lives. It was a pleasure to attend the ceremony (which was a cracking event by the way) and receiving such a meaningful award was the icing on the cake!"

Abi added: "The Derian House Special Recognition Award was given to Service Care Solutions as they have been a long standing supporter of Derian House for the last 5 years. They raised an amazing £3,666 for the £50 challenge by doing various different activities and got all the staff together for a number of  initiatives. We hope to continue our relationship with them for years to come."
