Blackburn-based recruitment specialist Cummins Mellor has appointed Andy Gardner as chief commercial officer to accelerate ambitious growth plans for 2024.

Andy has 26 years’ experience in the industry and spent 12 years as a Senior Director at Reed.

He says he was attracted to Cummins Mellor’s likeminded values and purpose-led approach.

Andy said: “Living near Blackburn I have been aware of Cummins Mellor for a number of years, in fact I met the founder Richard Mellor many moons ago at an industry day at a local secondary school and I remember talking to him about all things recruitment back then and being impressed by his passion.

“Fast forward 15 years and I was sitting opposite their MD Katie Mellor, who was exploring the possibility of adding someone to the team. We clicked instantly - as I have with every member of the team.”

Andy is working closely with Katie, who took over the family business in 2020.

Katie said: “As a second generation family business, we're keen to build on the success and foundation laid by the company founders - and this strategic hire takes us one step closer to us achieving our business goals and working in true partnership with you to ensure you achieve yours, too.”

The team has ambitious plans to expand its team over the next 12 months by offering its tailored recruitment solutions to businesses across Lancashire.

Andy, who will be focusing on growing the business’s contingent, retained, and RPO recruitment offerings, will continue to run his own business - Peak Talent Limited - as part of Cummins Mellor’s commitment to agile and flexible ways of working.
