Blackpool-based Colossal Training have appointed local businessman Ron Bell as a director of the company.

Colossal Training is part of the Colossal Group which was formed in 2011 by Lee Kirton, a former Royal Marine, whose vision was to create a market leading group of companies to provide bespoke solutions for organisations from industries across the globe. Colossal Group provide Training, Security, Maritime, Intelligence and Consultancy services from its Whitehills base.

As the training arm of the group, Colossal Training offer a wide range of training solutions including Health & Safety, Medical, Security, Education, Licensing, Food Safety and a host of other courses. Their specialism however is in the maritime industry providing training for people and organisations who work at sea and in ports worldwide. Ron was welcomed to the board at the start of the year by CEO Lee Kirton as Colossal unveiled its vision to expand its services into different areas of industry.

A former Royal Marine himself, Ron is still heavily involved with the Royal Marines through the Royal Marine Association and has a wealth of business experience having worked for a number of blue-chip companies at board level before setting up his own management consultancy in the 1990s.

With a background in sales and marketing, Ron has been brought on to the board to drive forward Colossal’s growth over the coming months.

He said: “I see a tremendous amount of potential in Colossal so when I was approached by Lee to join the board it was an easy decision to make. I like the ethos of the company, the way they work and the high standards of training they provide both locally and globally.

“Colossal has gone from strength to strength over the last few years but there are still some exciting avenues to be explored. There are lots of projects evolving and I look forward to helping Colossal with their ambitious plans to drive the company forward. “We are delighted to welcome Ron to the board here at Colossal, he brings with him a wealth of experience which will see the company step up to the next level in the provision of training services for businesses both locally and globally. We understand our client’s need to react to the ever-changing globalisation within a large number of industries, forcing companies to operate in the more challenging regions of the world. Ron’s experience within this industry will provide us with the knowledge we need to build on our current success.”
