Video wall specialists Ultimate Visual Solutions (UVS) has completed a control room expansion for West Midlands Metro.
The Burnley based firm has support the improvements at the tramway operator’s control room, which uses a network of CCTV cameras to help operate and manage the light rail network covering Birmingham and Wolverhampton, used by nine million passengers each year.
UVS's work saw it enhance a system it originally installed in 2023 to prepare for a major expansion, which will transform the Metro from a single line to a network that will triple in size.
The new control room was completed with UVS systems integrator partner TIS (Total Integrated Solutions), which specialises in driving digital transformation and integration across the life safety, security and communications industry.
UVS managing director Steve Murphy said: “The West Midlands Metro expansion will connect more customers to places across the region for work, education, and leisure.
“We are delighted to have worked to help ensure that throughout the forthcoming growth and change customers will remain the forefront of the operation.
“The new control room will assist in delivering a safe and secure, reliable, and sustainable tram service which meets and exceeds expectation.”
UVS, based in the Business First – Burnley Business Centre, is led by four senior colleagues who, between them, have more than 94 years' combined audio visual, control room and visual solutions experience.
