RKMS Group has been independently verified by Centre for Assessment Ltd, a leading UKAS-accredited certification body, as being carbon neutral.

John A Keen, CEO of RKMS Group, said: "We are delighted to have gained independent third-party certification to the Carbon Neutrality standard PAS 2060.

"We believe we are the first organisation in the area to achieve this. RKMS group has always been at the forefront of certification holding ISO 9001 since the company was formed in 1994 and adding ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 in 2009.”

PAS 2060 is a publicly available standard for carbon neutrality and is the only internationally recognised standard that enables businesses to demonstrate carbon neutrality claims.

There are five main stages to carbon neutrality. The first stage is to define the scope of the inventory. This is simply stating what control approach you are using, what the subject is and the locations to be included.

It presents four key stages to carbon neutrality. The second stage is to measure your carbon footprint by recoding your activity or usage data and applying an appropriate conversion factor.

Thirdly, you should then look at reducing your emissions. The best places to start are what we call “hotspots”, these are simply the areas of the business with the most emissions.

The fourth stage is to offset any residual emissions. There are various schemes that can be used to prove offsetting and these translate into carbon credits to offset against your carbon footprint hence achieving neutrality.

The fifth and final stage is to document everything. You have to publish a Qualifying Explanatory Statement (QES), maintain a GHG inventory and keep evidence of your emissions.

The RKMS Group have been reducing their carbon footprint for a number of years and have developed an online platform that allows clients to comply with statutory & regulatory requirements as well as a host of Internationally recognised standards.

Our platform was initially developed to assist companies comply with Primary Authority legislation, with Ladbrokes being the main client at the time.  During the pandemic we needed to change our business to ensure we could support clients, this has resulted in a major change to our business model where SaaS is now our main focus. This allows us to deliver services on a remote basis with a monthly subscription model.

During 2020 when the lockdown was at its peak RKMS managed to secure business with a number of Saudi Arabian government organisations, Saudi Customs, Saudi Food & Drug Enforcement agency and the Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation.

Over 11,000 individuals took part in online webinar based training sessions focussing on subjects such as lean management techniques and a range of standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 17020.

We estimate our platform has saved in excess of 100 tCO2e through reduced travel and reduced use of paper. It also has the benefit of improving our teams work life balance. 100 tCO2e is equivalent to 230 times around the world in car miles or 25Bn plastic straws!

RKMS Group provide consultancy support to organisations to achieve certification to international standards such as ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, ISO 45001 H&S, ISO 27001 Information Security & PAS 2060 Carbon Neutrality to name a few.

We also provide training in statutory requirements such as Health and Safety, First Aid and Fire Safety.
