Piers (Blackpool) Ltd, run by the Sedgwick family, has acquired the historic Central and South Piers in Blackpool from Crown Entertainment Centres Ltd for an undisclosed fee.
The Sedgwick family already owns and operates the North pier and whilst they also operate many of the attractions on the other piers they were able to fulfill their ambition to purchase the properties outright.
Peter Sedgwick, managing director at Piers (Blackpool) Ltd said: “We already own and operate the North Pier and many of the attractions on the other piers so this was an excellent opportunity to expand the business and add to our portfolio.
The purchase was supported by Barclays. This represents another pier deal supported by the bank after it helped Tir Prince Raceway Ltd, the North Wales leisure operator, to purchase Llandudno Pier back in May.
