Housebuilder Bellway has made a festive donation to the Christian Community Larder in Bamber Bridge.

Located close to Bellway’s Grey Gables Farm development on Brindle Road, the Christian Community Larder is part of St Aidan’s Community Hub in Bamber Bridge and gives food support to 50 to 60 local families every week.

This year, the Larder is hoping to make the Christmas period more magical for the families that it supports by providing each one with a celebratory hamper containing an assortment of seasonal treats and festive trimmings.

The local Bellway team has supported the initiative by collecting and donating more than 40 tubs of sweets, family tins of biscuits, boxes of chocolates or toffees and stocking filler treats all of which have been delivered to the team at the Larder for distribution in the community.

Christian Community Larder coordinator Joan Glynn commented: “Christmas could be a difficult time for some of our families this year; with many struggling to cover the cost of the weekly food bill without luxuries or treats.  Our aim is to ensure no-one has to go without a little extra something special to enjoy and are so grateful to Bellway for their donation.  We will definitely put it all to good use.”

Sales manager at Bellway, Susannah Shorrock, said: “When we heard about the incredible work being done by the team at the Christian Community Larder we knew that we wanted to do something to help.  We are delighted to be able to hand over the boxes of sweets and biscuits that we have collected and are pleased that they will go towards helping those in need locally.”

With increasing financial pressures on families across the local area, the need for the Christian Community Larder has become more acute in recent months with the team of volunteers regularly helping more than 55 families on an ongoing basis.  Each week, the Larder’s monetary donations are spent on stocking the fridge and freezer with meat, fish and cheese along with fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and eggs.

Grey Gables Farm is a beautiful development of high quality new build homes close to the Lancashire countryside and within easy reach of Preston, Blackburn, Blackpool and Manchester.  Two showhomes are available to view and a range of two bedroom bungalows and three and four bedroom detached homes are available for sale starting from £249,995.
