Arthur Padgett and Themis scoop national apprenticeship awards

Themis and Nelson business Arthur Padgett Plumbers are celebrating after picking up awards at the Apprenticeships 4 England Training Provider and Employer Awards in London.

Themis won the Silver Award in the Training Colleges category, while Arthur Padgett Plumbing scooped the Gold Award in the Micro Business Award.

The event, held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in the heart of London, saw more than 50 training providers and employers involved in delivering Apprenticeships come together to reflect on and celebrate the successes of the past 12 months.

Arthur Padgett’s Gold Award sees the employer and member of the Nelson, Colne and District Master Plumber’s Association recognised for its longstanding relationship with, and continued excellence in the delivery of, apprenticeship programmes.

The company’s scheme sees its apprentices working on a variety of community projects and director Eddie Padgett is keen that its apprentices benefit from learning technical skills while giving back to their local community.

Arthur Padgett Plumbers continually embraces new technologies and see its apprentices as a way of disseminating the new skills needed to every member of their team.

Edward Padgett said: “We are very proud that our approach to training apprentices with Themis, going back nearly a century, is still regarded as being of the highest quality. To be recognised as the best micro employer in the country really is a special accolade. We would like to dedicate this prestigious award to all Arthur Padgett’s apprentices over the last 91 years.”

Themis’ Silver Award sees them honoured in the category for the second year in a row, having topped the bill in 2014. This award recognises Themis’ continued dedication to putting the learner and employer at the heart of their Apprenticeship provision. Simon Jordan, Themis director, said: “We’re extremely proud of the quality of the Apprenticeships we offer and we’re sure that this is in no small part down to the relationships we have built with employers. Seeing partners such as Arthur Padgett Plumbers picking up top awards is a fantastic recognition of the quality of Apprenticeships being delivered by businesses in Pennine Lancashire, long may it continue.”
