The expansion into Cumbria follows the launch of the firm's first storage facility, in Adlington, which opened in January.

The facility stands on the site of local removals firm Richards of Kendal, which Andrew Porter Ltd purchased almost 20 years ago.

The premises have been converted into the area’s only self-storage centre, containing more than 100 indoor and outdoor units, ranging from 25 square feet up to 125 square feet.

Andrew Porter has planned a launch party for Monday, November 26.

Managing director Tim Aspey said: "Our self store facility in Adlington has proved hugely popular, so when our Kendal site was damaged by flood waters last year, we took the opportunity to create something new.

"It has taken six months to complete the work and we are delighted to now be open for business. "We’ve incorporated almost all the services we have at our main Adlington site, including outdoor units, pay per item service, item collection and free van hire, as well as specialist business services."
