73 jobs lost as Burnley firm goes into administration
A metalware firm which narrowly avoided closure 18 months ago has been hit by the news that its new owner has gone into administration.73 jobs at bakeware, cookware and wine racks firm George Wilkinson have been lost, whilst a skeleton staff of 19 has been retained as administrators search for a buyer.
Previous owner Metalrax faced a similar situation in April 2013, but jobs were saved when a buyer was found. Current owner PCS Brands has had to shed around a third of its 300-strong workforce.Paul Flint, partner at KPMG and joint administrator, said: “Unfortunately the PCS Brands Ltd has experienced significant trading difficulties for a while and has been unable to sustain the business resulting in our appointment as administrators. "The business has a number of retail and wholesale outlets across the UK and we are very keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in purchasing all or part of the business and its stock. We have retained staff to help us fulfil current orders and support customers during this time, but have unfortunately had to make some redundancies across the business. We would encourage any interested parties to contact the joint administrators as soon as possible.”
